Imagine You Show Up for Work and Your Boss Says…

Imagine you show up for work this morning and your boss says:

“Today you have a very important assignment. You’re going to cross the English Channel in a small boat. When you land on the beach, there’s a good chance you’ll be shot. Many of your friends will be killed. If you survive the landing, I need you to charge up the beach and kill as many enemies as possible. Yes, you’ll be severely outgunned. You’ll see horrors that you’ve never imagined. Worse than any nightmare you could dream.”

“I realize this is a difficult task with a lot of pressure. I also realize you’re only 20 years old. Unfortunately, you 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙣𝙤𝙩 fail. The fate of the free world literally hangs in the balance. Future generations may never know freedom.”

“Now…here’s a rifle and some hand grenades. Off you go.”

Basically, that’s the job that thousands of young men were charged with 76 years ago on the beaches of Normandy, France: 𝗗-𝗗𝗮𝘆.

Keep that in perspective the next time you have a bad day at work. You’ve never had a day with that much pressure or stress. Me either.

Take a moment and let that sink in. Then take a moment to thank anyone who has worn the uniform and remember the sacrifices made by so many to protect our freedom. 🇺🇸
